SHIPMATES – CONGRATULATIONS – FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME THE BRANCH HAS GAINED MEMBERSHIP.  THE INCRESE WAS SMALL (1.45%)  BUT NEVERLESS AN INCREASE.

Here at the Branch, and the FRA we need to add new and/or reinstated members to our rolls as we have been losing
too many members to deaths & NPD.  We need all of you to try and RECRUIT ONE NEW MEMBER IF YOU CAN -
SURELY YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE A FRA MEMBER.

Let’s see if we can increase our membership and our voice in Congress so as not to lose what we have earned by
serving our country.

Shipates - You can renew your membership by mail or on line or by telephone call using your credit card.
Call the  FRA Headquarters at 1-   800-FRA-1924 or their Website www.fra.org.  Another way to renew is to use your military  allotment.
Call the above number or use the WebSite for more info on how to start an allotment to automatic pay your dues.
Remember dues are now $30.00 per year unless you renew for  multiple years.
You can also stop by the Branch Home to say HELLO, and leave your dues money with the club manager, and they  will forward them
to the Branch Secretary.

A FURTHER NOTE CONCERNING MEMBERSHIP  Declining membership in the FRA and the LA-FRA is becoming a major problem.  We don't seems to have the answer or the solution to correct our declining membership.  We and the Ladies of the Auxiliary received orders to report to our final duty station on a daily bases.  We can't change our orders.  So we must find a way to retain our members who have either lost interest or may have decided not to renew their membership.  Every effort should be made to make personal contact with them and bring them back.  Try to contact them or anyone you know and see if you can get them to come to a branch meeting or the Branch Home and renew or meet new shipmates.  We still need to try and obtain new members.  Explain why you joined.  Tell them of the need to have an advocate in Washington.

NEW  NOTIFICATION METHOD  WHEN JOINING OR RENEWAL  In an effort to improve membership dues notifications the FRA has launched a new process to notify members who join or renew their dues.  If you have an e-mail address in your record, you will receive an automatic notification, which includes a temporary membership card, which you can print.  This notice will show your name, address, branch number, how much you paid , and length of membership  If you paid by credit card or check on line or completing a paper application or you mailed in your renewal notice, you will receive automatic notification by e-mail.  It’s very important that members keep their e-mail addresses up to date and current.  Branch members need to report a change in their e-mail address, and notify the branch sectary or call Member Service at 1-800-FRA-1924 to report a change.  A copy of the automatic e-mail will be sent to your Branch Secretary.  If you have never logged into your FRA account before at (www.fra.org) your user name is your membership number (found above your address label), and your password is your first initial of your first name, followed by your last name.

Remember both the Branch & the FRA need you as a member.  STAY WITH THE FRA

To all those above congratulations to you all for your continuous membership in the FRA.  We thank you for your many years of service  to your country, and to our Branch and the FRA.  We hope that you will have many more years to come.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP DRAWING: The winner of the drawing at each months meeting receives one year free membership.  In order to win you must be present for the drawing.    For October SKCS Thomas R. Heart, USN (Ret) & November Capt Michael Kelly, USMC/Vet.  Both were not present.
